After a very late night (or should I say early morning) trying to upload my first video I just had to have another go. Painted Petals has now been published on YouTube. Just gathering my thoughts and thinking of original ideas gave me a headache! But PERSEVERANCE they say. So after a few cups of tea and some glases of water the ideas started to come together. “Use some retiring products” a little voice kept telling me. “If you don’t they will sit on the shelf, left to gather dust in the future.” No they won’t be forgotten, just pushed aside as the new catalogue gets closer and closer. Can’t wait.
Painted Petals Mother’s Day Cards
So out came the Four Frames Stamp Set, which I wanted to use as a centre piece for the card.
Four Frames Stamp as centre piece
I worked from the centre out, feathering stamps around the image as if an extended layer. This was then adhered to cardstock, DSP and a card base. Check out the video to watch how.
I also did a slightly different version using embossed card stock instead of DSP paper as the base. It also has more ‘white space’ which I think opens up the card.

So I have decided to give it a go to make a few videos. You never know – someone might actually purchase something from me and find the same enjoyment from crafting that I do.
I have made a video (so bad!) and used a voice over (ha ha) because I really had no idea what I was doing. The card uses Hero Arts – High Heels stamp set, Real Red Card stock (this bit is Stampin’ Up!) Champagne paper ( I have no idea where I got that from) and some red ribbon. The dies are Xcut Doily and Spellbinders Labels. The card layout is one of the Sizzix ‘Pop Up’ Card Circle Bigz dies, which I have had for a number of years. I have also used embossing powder – it is a home mix of Stampin’ Up! Cherry Cobbler and some iridescent yellow (trying to replicate the champagne colour).
I have also used the same stamp in a couple of different ways here as well. Pink and Silver combination!
And the inside pops up too
And for a CAS card
A simple colour mix with clear or ice embossing powder results in a fun little card, that a funky mum would love.
Then I have a couple of plain cards following directions from Pootles.co.uk.
These floral Mother’s day cards are using up some of the retired Stampin’ Up! cardstock from the past, but pairing them with current stamps. This idea comes from CLB Craft Creations.

For these Mother’s Day Cards I have used the Butterfly Basics Stamp set and matching Thinlits from the Occassions Catologue. I have also pulled in the Papillon Potpourri Stamp set and And Many More. The background uses Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar (Retiring), Soft Suede and Chocolate Chip. I have used lots of my scraps to punch tiny flowers from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack adorned with tiny pearls to complete.
Don’t forget that the current 2014-2015 annual catalogue will end on 2 June 2015.

I have been pretty busy these holidays trying to craft as much as possible. I have finished knitting a couple of teapot cosies, a few beanies and I am part way through whipping up Llandan a cardigan to keep him warm over winter. I’ll try to remember to post some photos.
I have also made a concerted effort to update my cards for Mother’s day. All these ones come from the Mum’s Love Two-Step Stamp Set. I just love this set and you will notice that I have gone a little overboard!
Nobody Loves like a Mum.
I have used Staz-On Ink and watercoloured the petals and leaves with the basic combination of purple and green. I think I used Garden Green and Elegant Eggplant!
This time I have used a series of colour combinations to add a little difference to each card.
Colours – Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry and Old Olive. Stamp sets – Beautiful Bunch and Crazy About You.
Colours – Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz. Stamp sets – Crazy About You, Flower Patch.
Colours – Rich Razzleberry, Calypso Coral, Garden Green. Stamp sets – And Many More, Crazy About You. Punch – Flower Medallion

Last week we had our Demonstrator’s catch up night with Debbie and we were to do a Mojo Monday Sketch as a challenge. Of course I did the wrong sketch, Mojo Monday 72.
But I think it still worked out OK. I completed the challenge as a Mother’s Day Card.
I have used the Butterfly Punches and Framelits and Beautiful Wings Embosslits (Retiring), Scalloped Edge Border (Retiring), Scallop circle and circle punch, Lullaby DSP (Be quick, this is on the retiring list too), Very Vanilla Cardstock, Brushed Gold Cardstock, VersaMark and Gold Embossing Powder, Pearls and Mum’s Love stamp set from the Ocassions catalogue. Don’t forget that the current 2014-2015 annual catalogue will end on 2 June 2015.
In the end I was pretty happy!
I didn’t get much time to do some Easter Card Making, but I quickly whipped up these cute Peep’s Sake cards for the family.
I know it’s over but wasn’t this just a wonderful stamp set!
Happy Birthday Mum.
I wanted to make sure that your card used some of your favourite colours and ‘vintage’ themes. I have pulled out some stamps that I’ve never used, such as Couture Creations. I’ve used some old ribbons – truly vintage, they were from my mum’s sewing basket I am sure. Pearls and lace are always chic too. The butterflys come from my Stampin’ Up! And Martha Stewart punches.. I’ve used Calypso Coral and Crumb Cake (Stampin ‘ Up!) and Tattered Rose & Pumice Stone Distress Inks (Tim Holtz). The snap came from my sewing drawer and the scissors charm came as a freebie with a Stamping magazine (Sorry, I can’t remember which one!)
I hope you love it, Mum!
Never been used schtuff! I just had too much to choose from.
It took a lot of time to even decide which of the NBU stuff I should pull out and use.
So this will go in the CASology 129 NBUS challenge.
i am also going to link this to the NBUS challenge that CASology suggested.
I have used a Stampin’ Up! Roller stamp. When the rollers went out of the catalogue I peeled all of them off the reels and added new rubber so I could use them as a long stamp. I just never got ’round’ to putting it on a card. The three washi tapes came from the Colour Me Autumn designer washi tape. I picked this up just recently of the clearance rack. The Thank You stamp is from the Best of Greetings stamp set Stampin’ Up! brought out for the 25 yrs specials. I even broke open the Cajun Craze ink pad. Now I have no reason not to use it in the future!
I thought I would have more time after Christms, but the kids! I can’t really complain I have been able to see lots of great cricket over the past two weeks and sleep in on the odd occasion. So now my last uni assignment has been submitted I really needed some time out with the stamps and ink!
So I have had just enough time tonight to quickly have a go at the TSSC Monday Lunchtime challenge.
I am in need of a few more masculine cards so I have used Stampin’ Up!’s Confetti Celebration DSP, and picked up the Basic Grey, Crushed Curry and Tangelo Twist as the colour scheme. The stamps are from Honeycomb Hello. I have used the Hexagon Hive Thinlits, Honeycomb Textured Impressions folder and Hexagon punch. Finally the ribbon accent is uses the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.
Hope you like it
